SONOSITE® EXPANDS CUSTOMER SUPPORT WITH NEW EDUCATION WEB SITE AND VIDEO IPOD® TRAINING COURSES Bothell, Wash. – April 16, 2007 – SonoSite, Inc. the world leader in hand-carried ultrasound, today launched a new streamlined, customer support-focused Web site for its SonoSite Institute of Training and Education (S.I.T.E.) division http://sonositelearning.com/. “SonoSite understands that continuing education is imperative for clinicians, and we are committed to providing advanced programs that support each customer’s training needs,” said David Levesque, Vice President Global Learning of SonoSite. “Via the new S.I.T.E. Web site, physicians can now easily access dynamic, comprehensive content to learn more about SonoSite’s ultrasound systems. It will also help doctors stay current on the latest methods and technologies, and our innovative point-of-care applications.” The new S.I.T.E. Web site features an improved, easy-to-navigate user interface, enabling clinicians to quickly view a comprehensive listing of SonoSite education resources and regional training events. A new e-commerce section makes it simple for clinicians to register for peer-to-peer S.I.T.E. workshops and courses. Additionally, the S.I.T.E. Web site is home to a newly expanded library of refresher training modules that can be viewed on home computers or video-enabled iPod. Demonstrating its forward-thinking support for customers, SonoSite is the first ultrasound company to offer training courses via Apple’s fifth-generation iPod with video. These brief videos, produced by academic physicians, offer compelling instructional content in specific ultrasound-guided procedures and goal-oriented examinations. They can be stored on an iPod and viewed whenever and wherever needed, providing unparalleled point-of-care accessibility and flexibility. Clinicians now are able to refresh their training on the spot, a significant benefit as they face increasing demands on efficiency in today’s healthcare environment. Since the company’s introduction of video iPod training courses last year, there have been more than 4,000 course downloads. The tutorials are produced by Mobile Medical Media, a physician-owned company that creates focused instructional videos for the healthcare community designed specifically for playback on handheld devices and computers. There are currently 12 video training modules available on the Web site for purchase, with ten additional courses expected by year-end. Topics range from anesthesia and emergency medicine to critical care. Modules are meant to be refresher courses, and are not to be used in place of formal training. |
